Aiko Goto

Violin

Aiko Goto was born in Japan and began studying the violin at the age of three. The grand niece of Dr Suzuki, she grew up in Tokyo and in 1991 graduated from the Toho Gakuen School of Music receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Violin Performance from College Division.

She went to the United States in 1991 to pursue graduate studies at The Juilliard School of Music where she studied as a scholarship student under Dorothy DeLay and Masao Kawasaki, graduating in 1994.

As a winner of Artist International's 1994 Young Artists Award in NY, and The All Performance Music Society Competition of Japan, Ms Goto made her New York Debut at The Carnegie Weil Recital Hall in 1995 receiving the highest critical acclaim.  In 1997, played for The International Refugee Fund attended by the Japanese Royal Family.  Until 1998 she was the coordinator of strings in the faculty of Newark C. School of Arts in the United States.

As well as various solo recitals, Ms Goto has performed in chamber groups and orchestras at several of the world's most prestigious music festivals in Europe, US, and Japan. Since 1995 she has been a member of The Saito Kinen Orchestra whose music director is Seiji Ozawa. Ms Goto became a formal member of ACO in February 1999. In 2000 she performed in her recital in Sydney and Tokyo.

Aiko performs on a violin made by the French instrument maker Vuillaume.
