Support the Future of Australian Music

Why support the ACO's music education work?

The Australian Chamber Orchestra is unique. A product of our country’s vibrant, adventurous and inquiring spirit, its virtuosity and energy are unmatched by other ensembles. Crucially, in delivering music education, this means three things.

Inspiration

The ACO’s bold, exciting performance style and young, dynamic musicians enthuse and inspire children with a love of classical music.

For a young violinist, working with ‘the best chamber orchestra on earth’ is like wanting to be a rock star and getting to play with Radiohead. Students work one-on-one with ACO musicians in Schools’ Workshops around the country and in our Parramatta youth orchestra, attend rehearsals and receive subsidised concert tickets.

Why is this vital? Research shows that playing music increases the capacity to reason and improves concentration, memory, spatial skills, self-expression and team work. Music education is also a force for positive social change. We want to change lives, giving students the inspiration and tools to continue a lifelong musical journey.

Exhilaration

ACO mentoring takes Australia’s fine young string players and imbues them with the ACO’s extraordinary virtuosity and dynamic, turning them into performers who will exhilarate you for years to come. Two graduates of our Emerging Artists Program, Madeleine Boud and Rebecca Chan, have been accepted into the ACO.

Access

As a touring orchestra, the ACO is well placed to provide all Australians with access to high quality music, including those in regional and disadvantaged communities. Overwhelming demand for ACO2, our regional touring orchestra, has seen its touring schedule expand to regional Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, NSW and Queensland.

None of this is possible without your support. Donate now.
