In August we worked with 144 students from 60 different schools in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. This caps off a busy few months for our Education Department – since June we have worked with and played for approximately 400 students across the country!
While this has been happening, we have also been running an art and music program for the Primary school students at Picton Public School in NSW. US violinist Sharon Roffman, one of our casual musicians, has been working with the students via Skype. Meanwhile local visual artist Melissa Wheeler and their classroom teachers have been helping them create artworks in response to music.
Year 5 students are now doing this same program. We recently visited these students with Sharon Roffman in tow and together explored the music of Webern and the art of Kandinsky.”
