Our ACO Music & Art Program is in full swing in primary schools in regional Australia. Students at St Marys North Public School in NSW have been creating collages in the style of Piet Mondrian in response to listening to Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra playing Boogie Woogie.
Student collage in the style of Piet Mondrian.
Here’s what some of them had to say:
'The music Boogie Woogie makes me feel joyful. I want to get up and dance. Piet Mondrian’s painting Broadway Boogie Woogie inspires me to make my own art.' Sommah
'The Boogie Woogie makes me feel jumpy, groovy and thrilled. It inspires me to put together an abstract drawing with lots of colours.' Peter
Sharon Roffman and the ACO Inspire Quartet visit St Marys North Public School on their annual residency at the school in 2015.
This program offers students in regional Australia the opportunity to learn about music and art from ACO Inspire Quartet musicians. They create artworks in response to listening to music and display them at their local venues when ACO Collective tours to their town.
