Reflections On Gallipoli

Posted on 24 Apr 2017 by Cristina Maldonado

In 2015, the ACO toured Reflections on Gallipoli across the country, presenting an immersive and heartfelt multimedia exploration of the Anzac tale by Australia's greatest storytellers, including ACO artistic director and violin Richard Tognetti, director Neil Armfield, large-scale theatre specialist Nigel Jamieson, soprano Taryn Fiebig and other special guests.

On this national day of remembrance, experience our Helpmann Award-winning production, Reflections on Gallipoli

"You, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well." Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

The invocation by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who became known as the father of modern Turkey, is inscribed on the memorial stone overlooking ANZAC Cove in Gallipoli. It provided the inspiration for Richard Tognetti, Nigel Jamieson, and Neil Armfield to bring to the stage their emotional exploration of the ANZAC story through music, spoken word and imagery.
