Watch: Pekka Kuusisto’s hilarious Proms encore

Posted on 28 Nov 2016 by Cristina Maldonado

Pekka Kuusisto performing with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms 2016.

Boundary-breaking, engaging, and exquisitely talented, Pekka performs as a classical soloist, directs ensembles from the violin, and runs his own festival (Meidän Festivaali) where he combines different art forms within one concert programme - dance, electronics and light installations, gastronomy and film all feature alongside performances of standard and contemporary repertoire. His highly individualistic career also sees him playing jazz, rock, and improvising electronic music.

Back in August, the Finnish fiddler had the Proms audience on its feet when he performed a spirited Finnish folk song as an encore to the critically acclaimed concert.

Pekka Kuusisto will be back on our shores to perform alongside Sam Amidon our Season opener of 2017.
