World renowned cellist and long-time ACO collaborator, Steven Isserlis joins Richard Tognetti in a program that marrys core cello repertoire with two world premieres. ACO veterans will know full well the sparks that fly when Isserlis and Tognetti get together, which will make this reunion one of the season’s highlights.
Our brightest new operatic star, Nicole Car has enjoyed a stratospheric rise from local talent to global phenomenon. Nicole’s powerful soprano has allowed her to take giant strides onto the international stage, including performances with the Deutsche Oper Berlin and opening the 17/18 Season at London’s Royal Opera House. She will join us in her only orchestral performance for the year in Australia, where she will sing a host of Mozart and Beethoven heroines supported by a soloist performance from principal violin Satu Vänskä.
It is impossible to watch Alina Ibragimova play and come away unaffected. The Russian soloist’s raw, emotional performances captivate audiences with a hypnotic energy that fills concert halls of every size. Leading the orchestra through an emotional program, including Barber’s Adagio for Strings and ACO audience favourite Death and the Maiden, her performance will be one that stays with you for months.
Bursting onto the international scene as a child prodigy, violinist Ilya Gringolts is known for his dazzling virtuosity. Long on Richard Tognetti’s wish list of collaborators, 2018 will be the year we finally join forces with the Russian sensation, who will lead the orchestra through a celebration lavish musicality from Paganini to Vivaldi.
Scottish Steven Osborne is one of the UK’s most highly regarded pianists. Working with major ensembles around the world, Steven keeps audiences spellbound with complex performances that fill every note with emotion and precision. In 2018, Steven joins Richard Tognetti and Timo-Veikko ‘Tipi’ Valve in a short, intimate run of very special chamber performances.
Guests artists will appear as part of our 2018 National Concert Season. Subscriptions to the season are currently available, with a range of packages available around Australia. Single tickets will become available on 2 November.
