Back in May 2016, Richard Tognetti and the ACO performed one of Western music’s greatest technical constructs, JS Bach’s The Art of Fugue.
This intricate exploration of the possibilities of counterpoint is perhaps his most ambitious undertaking, transcending mere theory to achieve rapturous musical heights. It inspired and awed audiences and critics alike with its “interlacing drama, irresistible momentum and constantly shifting architecture.” (The Australian)
Ahead of the Bach Violin Concertos national tour this April 2nd to 12th, we thought we'd give you a taster of last year's exhilarating performance by the ACO. Sit back and enjoy the Sydney Opera House performance of Contrapunctus 1-4 from The Art of Fugue.
