Description

Three years in the making, Mountain is the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s critically acclaimed cinematic collaboration with BAFTA nominated Sherpa director Jennifer Peedom.

Exploring the triumphant and troubled history of human fascination with Mountain, Richard Tognetti and Peedom worked together to develop an epic artistic whole, in which both music and film join together to create an emotional connection with nature.

“The original music I wrote for Mountain was composed in real collaboration with Jennifer [Peedom],” Tognetti said. “She would tell me what she was trying to express and what the scene in the movie meant, and then I would try and come up with the musical equivalent. Some of the compositions are filmic and some of them are more like dreamscapes.”

The soundtrack features works from Beethoven, Grieg and Vivaldi, as well as original compositions from Richard Tognetti himself. The recording features the Australian Chamber Orchestra, performing alongside a range of musical guests.
