CAIRNS GONDWANA INDIGENOUS CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Our partnership with Gondwana Choirs and Djarragun College involves events and opportunities for musicians and choristers to work together in regional and remote Australia.
In March 2016 and 2017, the ACO Inspire Quartet travelled to Cairns to attend the Gondwana Cairns Indigenous Children’s Choir’s annual weekend music camp. At the camp, they worked with the choristers on a range of activities, including workshopping a new work by Sydney composer Luke Byrne. Stormbird, based around stories from local Cairns Yidinji Elder, Seith Fourmileand, its companion piece Mantra, were commissioned for a performance by ACO Collective and the Cairns Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir at Tanks Arts Centre in 2017.
