The ACO conducts String Workshops during their national tours each year. Students become part of the ACO for a morning or afternoon, learning rehearsal and performance techniques and playing alongside ACO musicians and ACO Emerging Artists. Workshops are held annually in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra.

String workshops are extension activities for secondary and advanced primary string students. They are free of charge and run for three hours.
