Maja Savnik's musical path began in Slovenia at the Domžale Music School with Professor Anastasia Juvan and continued at the High School for Music and Ballet Ljubljana with Professor Armin Sešek.
During her high school years, Maja received several first prizes at national and international competitions such as San Bartolomeo, Stresa, Gorizia, Belgrade, Zagreb, Usti and Orlici. After high school, she enrolled in Violin Studies at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria, with Professor Tibor Varga and later with Professor Silvia Markovic.
Maja then continued her studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with Professor Primož Novšak, the first concertmaster of Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich in Switzerland. She also attended seminars with Professors Rubenstein, Gahler, Varga, and Novšak.
As a university student in Ljubljana, Maja attained the position of concertmaster of the Chamber and Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Ljubljana, with which she toured across Europe.
As a soloist, Maja has performed with several professional orchestras in Slovenia such as the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Ljubljana Radio and TV Orchestra, and the National Theatre and Ballet Orchestra. She has performed with several world renowned conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Riccardo Muti and Sir Neville Marriner. She was recognized with the Camerata SLOVENICA as part of Piran Musical Evenings with the chamber ensemble "Novšak and friends".
Maja was awarded the Student Prešeren award for special artistic achievements during her studies and was the recipient of a scholarship for gifted students. In 2011, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. From 2010 to 2015, she occupied the position of first violin tutti in the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and was a member of the Chamber String Orchestra of the Slovenian Philharmonic.
She has toured with several world renowned artists including Sting on his 2010 Symphonicities tour, Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko on her European tour in 2012 and world renowned cellist Mischa Maisky in 2013.
