ACO musicians perform quartets by some of history's greatest composers.
Beethoven composed his heartbreaking Cavatina when he was entirely deaf. Of all his compositions, the Cavatina is rumoured to be the only one that bought Beethoven to tears.
Equally emotional, Janáček’s passionate Intimate Letters quartet was inspired by the 700+ letters written between Janáček and his muse.
Arguably the world’s favourite composer, Mozart’s well-loved Prussian quartet is intense and beautiful. Inspired by Mozart’s quartets, Schumann’s String Quartet No.3 is a masterpiece in its own right, filled with youthful energy.
* Either the Mozart or the Schumann will be performed at each concert.
