Australian Chamber Orchestra
Hear the Australian Chamber Orchestra in the splendid, ornate Melbourne Synagogue, often referred to as the "Cathedral Synagogue" of Melbourne.
Against this stunning backdrop, the ACO performs a showcase of string orchestra repertoire from Vivaldi's Baroque double cello concerto featuring ACO cellists Timo-Veikko Valve and Julian Thompson to a tango written in the 1930s by popular German Jewish composer Kurt Weill.
Lead violin Helena Rathbone stars in one of Mozart's enchanting and virtuosic violin concertos, principal cellist Timo-Veikko Valve performs Bloch's intensely moving From Jewish Life and the concert closes with a Romantic flourish, with Elgar's enduringly popular Serenade for Strings.
