Sydney Opera House
On the afternoon of Sunday 29 November 2015, the People’s Climate March is scheduled to take place in Sydney CBD. Large crowds are expected with significant travel disruption that may affect your journey to see the 2pm performance of the Basel Chamber Orchestra at Sydney Opera House.
Roads will be closed from 2–5pm, including Macquarie Street and College Street north of William Street. Special event clearways will be in place from midday to 5pm on the eastern side of Macquarie Street, between the Sydney Opera House car park and Bridge Street.
Vehicle access via Macquarie Street is expected to close at approximately 1.30pm and not to reopen until 5pm or later. This means:
- To use Wilson Parking at Sydney Opera House, you will need to arrive early (recommended entry time no later than 1.15pm). You may not be able to exit until 5pm or later;
- There will be no vehicle drop off at Sydney Opera House between 1.30pm – 5pm;
- The Opera House Shuttle Bus will not be operating between 1.30pm – 5pm; and
- All visitors to the Sydney Opera House site should expect large crowds and congestion.
These closures will impact patrons and visitors to the Sydney Opera House, particularly ticket-holders attending performances between 2pm & 4pm. We recommend using public transport wherever possible and allowing extra travel time.
To help make your journey to the Opera House as painless as possible we would encourage you to visit www.livetraffic.com for updates and to plan ahead so that you can fully enjoy the performance on Sunday afternoon.
