A warm welcome to our European chamber orchestra friends, the Basel Chamber Orchestra! They make their Australian debut in these special performances that form part of an exchange that sees the ACO reciprocate with concerts in Switzerland in 2016.

Their programs sparkle with music by Holliger, Haydn, Saint-Saëns and Bartók’s vibrant Divertimento, commissioned by impresario and founder of an earlier incarnation of the Basel Chamber Orchestra, Paul Sacher.

Sol Gabetta is one of the bright lights of music today. Born in Argentina, raised in Europe and based in Basel, this award-winning recording artist, festival director and soloist recently made her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle. We are delighted to welcome her to Australia.
