On Saturday 8 October, 10am – 4pm, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct is hosting its first precinct-wide Open Day.
The one-day event will see us open our doors, joining fellow Walsh Bay arts companies including Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra, Bell Shakespeare and the Australian Theatre for Young People, for a free program of public events across Pier 2/3 and Wharf 4/5 that include workshops and performances that offer a unique insight into the creative process and inspiration behind some of Australia’s most dynamic arts organisations.
Walsh Bay Arts Precinct Open Day at the ACO
Alongside ticketed performances in The Neilson of our ACO Families show, How to Catch A Star, we invite you into the Belgiorno Room (pictured below) where you can enjoy a coffee, watch our award-winning ACO StudioCast films and enjoy free craft-making activities for music fans of all ages.
Another highlight will see our Artistic Director, Richard Tognetti, joining other Walsh Bay Arts Precinct artistic directors at Sydney Theatre Company for a special panel discussion at 10.30am.
The Open Day will also include behind-the-scenes access to the Sydney Theatre Company’s sets, props and costume makers, and a series of directing and acting workshops and talks; artistic and educational children’s activities at Bangarra Dance Theatre; workshops and a behind-the-scenes tour of Bell Shakespeare; and a precinct-wide treasure hunt hosted by Australian Theatre for Young People.
Back at the ACO, we will be presenting the final three performances of our school holidays show, How to Catch a Star, and there are still tickets left if you’re looking for an uplifting performance that combines magical storytelling with an exquisite score performed by a quartet of ACO musicians.
