Vale and Thank You Tony Gill

The late Tony Gill was a wonderful supporter of the ACO during his lifetime and we are enormously honoured and grateful that he also chose to leave the ACO a gift in his will.

Tony was born in Montreal, Canada and moved to Australia in 1978, becoming one of Australia’s leading mortgage securitisation experts through a long and very successful career at Macquarie Bank.  After retiring from Macquarie Bank, Tony served on a number of boards and industry panels and was actively involved in a number of not-for-profit organisations including the Butterfly Foundation, Pinchgut Opera and the ACO.

Introduced to the ACO through friends more than two decades ago, Tony quickly became a passionate supporter and was particularly generous in supporting the ACO's Capital Campaign, helping us to realise our dream of moving to our new permanent home at Pier 2/3. He loved the arts and classical music, sharing that passion generously with friends, colleagues and family alike. Tony delighted in experiencing concerts with others and encouraging wider involvement. A committed ACO subscriber for many years, his connection to the Orchestra was both longstanding and heartfelt.

“Tony Gill was a generous supporter, not only financially, but with his time and advice. We’re so grateful to have also benefitted from his involvement in a number of ACO committees over the years.”

ACO Head of Major Gifts & Bequests, Lillian Armitage

Tony loved both the classics and more contemporary works. For him, the enjoyment came from the emotion and the ‘story’ told through music. Tony’s generous bequest will help to ensure that the story is told for many years to come.

Vale, Tony Gill and thank you.
