Opening Gala Hero Pier 23

ACO at Pier 2/3 Opening Celebration

Richard Tognetti and the ACO bring together an all-star line-up to celebrate the opening of the Orchestra’s spectacular new home at Pier 2/3. Due to limited capacity, ticket buyers must enter a ballot to attend this event. See details below.

Opening Gala Hero Pier 23

Friday 29 April, 7.30pm | The Neilson

In this special gala event, Richard Tognetti will lead one of the Orchestra’s first public performances in Sydney’s newest performance space, The Neilson, a stunning state-of-the-art concert hall that has been especially designed for the ACO.

Joining the ACO onstage for the celebrations are some of Australia’s most iconic musicians and long-standing ACO collaborators, including singer/songwriter Jimmy Barnes, didgeridoo virtuoso, composer and singer William Barton, pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska, guitarist Slava Grigoryan and recorder player Genevieve Lacey, while performers from our neighbours at Sydney Theatre Company will present newly commissioned monologues from a range of Australian writers reflecting on this moment in the history of the ACO and Walsh Bay.

Due to the limited capacity, ticket buyers were required to enter a ballot for this event, and notified if successful. This event will also be streamed live for audiences beyond Pier 2/3.

Tickets from $79.
