Experience the energy of a new generation of musicians and composers, as five string players from ANAM join musicians from the ACO.
In this ACO Up Close recital, taking place at ACO Pier 2/3 in Sydney (Sun 5 Mar) and Rosina Auditorium in Abbotsford (Mon 6 Mar), Musicians from the ACO and the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) showcase the brightest new-generation composers, including Nico Muhly, Missy Mazzoli and Ólafur Arnalds.
The all-contemporary program juxtaposes music from America – and in particular from New York, alongside more serene sounds from Iceland and Finland, directed from the cello by the ACO’s very own Finnish Principal Cello, Timo-Veikko ‘Tipi’ Valve.
If you are attending the performance at Abbotsford Convent on 6 March, you can join ANAM in the Rosina Courtyard after the concert for complimentary drinks and the opportunity to meet the musicians.
About ACO Up Close
ACO Up Close is your opportunity to experience astonishing musicians in an intimate setting.
Across a series of nine concerts, leading soloists from around the world and musicians from the Australian Chamber Orchestra present fresh and innovative music in a relaxed setting.
Each performance is presented by a host, enabling us to get to know the musicians in their own words and revealing more about the music.
ACO Up Close takes place in partner venues and in The Neilson, the state-of-the art 270-seat concert hall at the newly opened ACO Pier 2/3 in the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct. Acclaimed for its extraordinary acoustic, The Neilson provides an intimate context for these concerts.
