Omega Ensemble

Omega Ensemble: Alchymia

An Australian premiere by Thomas Adès, Missy Mazzoli’s haunting Dark with Excessive Bright and world premieres by Samuel Adams and Christopher Cerrone.

Described as “a triumphant premiere from our greatest living composer…” (The Telegraph UK), Thomas Adès’ Alchymia is a spellbinding and expansive masterwork transporting the listener into a deep, dark timelessness. This Australian premiere leads an explosion of juxtapositions in a program of genre-defying contemporary music.

Moving from beautiful simplicity to pandemonium beyond recognition, this performance also features Missy Mazzoli's Grammy-nominated double bass concerto Dark with Excessive Bright, an updated and expanded new version of Christopher Cerrone’s Nervous Systems, and a world premiere from Samuel Adams, a striking work of light, shade and ever increasing intensity.
