Mendelssohn’s music is pure pleasure. One of the great prodigies, he wrote his sunny Octet at just 16 years of age. It’s one of the most loved pieces of chamber music ever written and a favourite of the ACO. In their hands, its youthful exuberance just about leaps off the stage.
If Mendelssohn is pleasure, then Bach is worship. Bach sought God in his music and became like a god for musicians, a touchstone to which all other music is compared. His music is filled with drama, joy and remarkable discipline. Hearing it, playing it, is an act of worship.

About ACO Relaxed performances
We are thrilled to invite you to join us for two new ACO Relaxed performances in 2024 in our beautiful harbourside home at ACO pier 2/3.
Presented with flexible seating, adjusted lighting and sound levels, and a quiet space to chill out, these 50-minute relaxed performances are tailored to those for whom the traditional concert hall experience may be inaccessible. We warmly welcome people with disability and/or who are d/Deaf, including those with sensory sensitivities and other access needs. Come along, respond to the music, be yourself and have fun!
We are pleased to announce that in 2024 there will be $10 tickets available for people with disability, and/or people who are d/Deaf. This may include NDIS participants, Companion Cards holders, members of the Sunflower program, or anyone with an association with a disability or support organisation.
