Nicolas Altstaedt

ACO Up Close: Nicolas Altstaedt Solo

Experience a one-off recital from the sensational cellist, in the flawless acoustics of our custom-built concert hall, The Neilson.

Stepping off his national tour guest-directing the Australian Chamber Orchestra for the first time, German-French cellist Nicolas Altstaedt brings an intimate solo recital to ACO Pier 2/3 in Sydney’s harbourside Walsh Bay Arts Precinct.

The sensational cellist, who has been hailed as having “technique to burn, near perfect intonation, superb control of extreme registers and harmonics”, will perform a sublime program of music by JS Bach and Zoltán Kodály.

Experience his one-off recital up close in the flawless acoustics of our custom-built concert hall, The Neilson.

Altstaedt will be performing on a 1749 Guadagnini cello – a relative of one of the violins performed in the Australian Chamber Orchestra: the 1759 Guadagnini Violin currently played by ACO Violin Liisa Pallandi.

This recital will feature a conversation with the artist, hosted by Ce Benedict.
