Brahms 3 and Mozart Sinfonia Concertante

MOZART The Magic Flute: Overture
MOZART Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat major
BRAHMS Symphony No.3 in F major

“If there’s a better chamber orchestra in the world today, I haven’t heard it.” The Guardian (UK)

“Richard Tognetti is one of the most characterful, incisive and impassioned violinists to be heard today.” The Daily Telegraph (UK)

This August, discover the ACO in full symphonic force as Richard Tognetti directs the Orchestra in one of the greatest symphonies of all time, Brahms’ colossal Third Symphony, and takes audiences on a journey through Mozart’s dazzling Sinfonia Concertante and the Overture to his ever-popular The Magic Flute.

After the “exciting beyond belief” (The Daily Telegraph) symphonic performances of Brahms’ Symphony No.1 in 2010 and the “intelligent and  courageous rendition” (The Australian) of Brahms’ Symphony No.4 in 2013, Richard Tognetti takes 50 talented musicians to the stage in the ACO’s largest ensemble of the 2015 season, to perform Brahms’ Third Symphony.

Brahms’ Third Symphony is perfect for the ACO. It’s a concise and confident masterpiece, mixing grandeur and intimacy in equal parts. Rich in melody and intensely lyrical, this symphony is a truly passionate work.

Audiences will also bask in two beautiful works by Mozart: the Overture from The Magic Flute and a rare opportunity to hear Tognetti duel with the ACO’s Principal Viola, Cristopher Moore, when they perform one of the seminal works in the classical repertoire for violin, viola and orchestra, the Sinfonia concertante.
